REPRESENTATIVE DELL RAYBOULD ANNOUNCES HE WON’T SEEK RE-ELECTION

Raybould will conclude his 18 years of service in the Idaho House effective at the end of this term

Rexburg, ID – JANUARY 17, 2018 — Rep. Dell Raybould made it official today that he will not seek re-election in 2018. A successful farmer and businessman, Rep. Raybould served previously as chairman of the Resources & Conservation Committee and will end his tenure as the chairman of the Environment, Energy & Technology Committee.

“As I look back, I consider myself very lucky to serve in the House during a time of great change in our state. I’m proud of my efforts to implement smart water policies that will protect this valuable resource for future generations, and I hope that the folks in District 34 know how much I appreciate the opportunity to serve them. It has been a privilege that I will cherish for the rest of my life.”

Rep. Raybould made water, tax policy and supporting Idaho businesses legislative priorities. He played a central role in helping to negotiate both the Swan Falls and Nez Perce water agreements while also serving on multiple interim and joint conference committees.

His time in the Idaho House followed both personal and professional success. He was inducted into the Idaho Water Users Association Hall of Fame and the Eastern Idaho Agricultural Hall of Fame. After years of service to the industry, he received the Idaho Governor’s Award for Excellence in Idaho Agriculture, and this year he was named Outstanding Republican Legislator by the Idaho Republican Party.

“Whether it was the potato industry or water issues, I’ve probably spent the last 50-plus years of my life working to make the world a better place for our kids and grandkids. So, I’m thrilled to know that my granddaughter, Britt Raybould, feels the call to serve and will announce her candidacy for the Idaho House in District 34 (Seat B).”

“I’ve watched over the years as she has taken leadership roles in agriculture and business, in addition to starting her own successful consulting firm. She dedicates herself 100% to everything she does, and I know she’ll make an excellent representative for District 34. She has my full support and endorsement. I look forward to seeing the next generation of leaders head to Boise, and I’m confident she’ll be among them.”

A lifelong Idahoan, Rep. Raybould will continue to live in Rexburg, ID.
